Lambing is happening in full force

In between trying to get my 1/2 to 2/3's of the barn cleaned (pitch fork and wheel barrow then dumped in tractor bucket at the end of the hall) and lambs being born, I have been a little busy. And, I am teaching beginning adult spinning on Saturday mornings. I have been working on fleeces to put up here for sale, but nothing has been photographed yet.
Please bear with me. I hope to get back to it soon. I have a LOT of adult fleeces discounted to $10 a bag and lamb fleeces for $20 a bag. I need to sell as many as possible as we will be shearing our own soon and I need the room.
I've got another ewe in labor for the 3rd time in 12 hours. Going to be a LONG night.

I am working on fleeces

getting them re-skirted and cleaned up.

I am taking advantage of the nicer days to go 

through the fleeces from this year's shearing

that had not been handled since shearing.

There simply were not enough hours in the day.

And, until recently, I've not been able to stand 

with this ankle for any period of time. 

It still is not very long, but I can get a couple

done at a time and then I need to come in and

put it up to reduce the pain and swelling.

 This is a mystery fleece.

I THINK it is a Romney x Katahdin.

It has had its 'spine' removed due to heavy

vegetable matter and grain 'seeds'.

The staple length on the sides averages 7".

 It is not an overly soft fleece, nor it is a coarse fleece.

It would be great for outwear.

It does have kemp at the rear end.

I would use that is heels and toes,

or for boot socks.

It has not yet been weighed. 

I am waiting to have a bunch to do, and I will 

do them downstairs in the to-be shop where it 

is MUCH cooler! But, if you are interested, I can

Ewe & I Farm  is headed to the 43rd annual NH Sheep & Wool Festival next weekend, May 11th & 12th, in Deerfield, NH. https://www.nhswga.org/nh-sheep-wool-festival

All our fleeces, roving, yarn and knit goods are slowly making their way into the horse trailer. So, nothing will be available until the show, or after if not sold in Deerfield.

It may take me a week or two after the show to get everything back into the house, and into the new wool room downstairs, as I am still dealing with the ankle.

The ankle is healing slowly. The hardware was removed April 5th. leaving a baker's dozen of holes in the bones. The surgeon said there is a high chance I could break it again, so I am moving cautiously and with a cane. But, I am moving!! I am thankful for the pain as that means I can still feel! I am taking Lyrica for my Fibromyalgia, and that is helping with the nerve pain from all the damage I did when I broke it 11 months ago.

Each day is a blessing.

 I do not know why this particular yarn is not white.

I think the mill may have rewashed the fleece, and 

left the rest washed as it was from here. Some mills

have chlorine in their water which will change the color.

Crazy time of year

Jerry is shearing EVERY day after work now, and I am trying to get caught up on what I need to do before my next ankle surgery.

All 33 of our sheep have been sheared. And, I have another 10 fleeces (as of today) from 3 other farms here.

I am hoping he can bring my skirting table up to the deck so I won't have to go far to process fleece after surgery. 😊 I am also hoping to get these 43 skirted, photographed, bagged, tagged, and weighed before next Friday! I can upload the pictures and update the blog while I am recovering.
