A few of the fleeces waiting their turn on the skirting table

The skirting table set up in the alpacas sleeping quarters.

I managed to salvage 2 Merinos fleeces from the
4 we sheared this year. The other two were even
more fragile and VM loaded.
These two do have some fragile tips along the spine,
and they do pull off easy enough. I would not send
these to the mill. At least not without taking off the
fragile tips first. The 2nd fleece had most of the
spine area removed due to VM.

The pictures with the yard stick show the length
left after the fragile tips are removed. The rest of
the fleece is sound. This is 2 years growth. The
owner does not have a barn to lock them in, and
they like to stay outside in the weather...

One is white, and one is a tan/brown.
I will weigh them and post prices tomorrow.

Icelandic

From a tiny 2 year old ewe. 1 1/4 # after heavy skirting. $6.25 plus s&h.

Merino

I am working on skirting Merino. But, I have pitched everything that I have pulled from the horse trailer so far. I will keep on skirting to see if I can find any worth saving and selling.

Ebony. Horned Dorset/Romney cross

Has some hay down spine. I usually will remove a spine with hay, but her fleece is long enough that if you open it up, pull off the sides and shake her fleece vigorously, a lot will fall out. I would save this part for combing to get any smaller pieces of VM out. Sides look great. Would card up beautifully. 4-5" staple length. Muddy tips. Will wash out easily enough. Other than the spine, this fleece has been heavily skirted.

$5/lb. 3# 10 oz. $18.20 $18 plus s&h.

If you want me to remove the spine, the fleece will then be $7/lb. and I will spin it myself. Email me if interested with your zip code for shipping options and prices. Pay Pal preferred. Checks will have to wait until they clear at my bank before I can ship. Can ship fleeces Monday through Saturday.

Been awhile since I've been here.

Almost a year! WOW!! I hope to change that in the upcoming weeks. We have LOADS of fiber to reskirt, photograph, weigh and tag, and then post on this page and our Wool n' Ewe page on Face Book. https://www.facebook.com/WoolnEwe/
